Summary:

The Laundry Seamstress keeps linens in circulation through sewing, mending, and patching of hospital linens. To rag out worn or unrepairable linens and keep records of rag outs and new linens placed in system.
Experience/Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with industrial/commercial sewing machine.

License or Certification Requirements:

None

Responsibilities:

  • Irons lab coats and maintains records.
  • Makes or revamps garments as needed.
  • Mends miscellaneous straps on mattress covers and medical gear such as orthopedic apparatus and operating room pads.
  • Operates sewing machine, heat seal press label machine, hand iron, and sewing hand tools.
  • Prepares new linen inventory and maintains records.
  • Removes old, worn, or damaged linen from inventory records.
  • Sews, mends, and patches hospital linens, cubicle curtains, and drapes.
